fightin' the fat

Obesity has its own special segment on this website,
because obesity can cause isolation, yet obesity can be intentional,
and intentional obesity has causes.

1) Some people use food to make up for shortcomings in life.
For some people, food is surrogate success.
2) Obesity can also be a strategy to self-protect a person from abuse.
Yes, some people engineer their own obesity as a form of self-defense.
      a) Many women become obese to prevent a reoccurrence of rape. I've read of them.
Their intent is to be so unattractive - no man would want to touch them.
      b) Many young males who have been bullied, use food to 'bulk-up' against bullying.

OBESITY INTRO

My journey...

August 2024, me wearing the largest pair of pants I've ever worn, 40" waist.
In 2017, at 5'11,
I couldn't fit my belly into my 40" pants.
My belly hung over my waistline.
Estimated weight: 265-275 lbs.
I am now 5'11', weigh 199 lbs. and wear a 34' waist.

The last section on Obesity will include my 'secrets' for weight loss.
Being part introvert, I did this solo, without a bonafide program.

In a curious turn, we will consider Down syndrome people (DS) and obesity.
Down syndrome adults are the people group with the highest-level of obesity in the US.
Surprised?

OBESITY INTRO

A foolproof diet?

Dieters are looking for advice from someone who has succeeded at weight loss.
If someone lost a lot of weight, but didn't keep it off, then their method failed - they suppose.

Not true.

One thing every diet lacks is a foolproof method of overpowering one's own free will.
Sure, calorie-math is important to successful weight loss,
but a properly harnessed free will - this is what drives sustainable weight loss.

My methods will work for me -
only to the degree - that my free will submit to my metabolism -
instead of surrendering to my impulses and my ego.
