Defensive Obesity
sea fortifications at cartagena, columbia
My first out-of-country trip, 1994.
Some people are like fortresses - impenetrable.
I have read of women who readily admit to harnessing obesity
to make themselves unattractive to would-be sexual abusers.
Their BMI is their shield and fortress.
These women were sexually abused as young females
and have decided that obesity is the surest line of defense available to them,
and have decided that obesity is preferable to sexual abuse.
There is not much more to say about this,
except we must never pretend that obese people can live as long as weight-healthy people.
As a carpenter, some of my work is for a private-pay senior living community.
There are fewer obese women there than lean women, and almost no obese men.
Obesity shortens lifespans.
